Pre-Design. One size does not fit all. Every stretch of a site has unique physical and land use characteristics, each of which bears on the nature and sustainability of cleanup actions. Evaluation of these site factors allow us to identify viable long-term remedial technologies for each subarea of the site. Results guide our design strategy.
Design Studies. Conceptual remedial designs defined during the feasibility study phase of Superfund activity typically need to be refined by supplemental engineering and sediment characterization studies. The scope, schedule, and data quality objectives of such supplemental studies guide our design strategy. The DOF team of technical experts examines various site factors and issues that influence the design and viability of alternative or multiple remedial technologies.
Remedial Design. Applying the findings of the design studies, DOF’s remediation and construction engineers refine the application of remedial technologies to accommodate the specific conditions in each subarea of the site and prepare key documents.
Remedial Action Implementation. Collaborating with each project owner, DOF’s engineers tailor construction contracts to achieve project objectives while eliminating adverse incentives that can undermine success. Our clients often have us serve as the construction manager, with an on-site resident engineer and staff to monitor the work, collect confirmation sampling data, interact with regulatory agencies, and resolve implementation and performance issues as they arise.
