Dalton, Olmsted & Fuglevand, Inc. (DOF) is a civil engineering and environmental remediation design firm with an emphasis on the cleanup of upland, shoreline, and marine sites. We do site investigations, design, preparation of construction plans and specifications, and construction oversight for our projects. DOF is seeking a primary accountant and administrator to join our firm as a part-time employee starting mid-October, 2019. We provide environmental consulting and engineering services to companies throughout the Pacific Northwest. Our staff of 18 engineers, geologists, and designers work from our offices in Poulsbo, Seattle, and Leavenworth, Washington and Portland, Oregon, with a staff member also currently working remotely from Massachusetts. www.dofnw.com.
Responsibilities: * Perform all office accounting functions, including, accounts receivable and payable processing, monthly client invoice creation and processing, payroll processing and withholding reporting, processing employee expense reports, processing company credit cards, monthly state B&O payments, quarterly reports, tracking of employee benefits, and generation of management reports.
* Maintain files; electronic and physical. * Process mail, reply to general office email inquiries. * Support managers with various project related tasks, such as MS Word, Excel, and Adobe PDF formatting, printing, file management, and other tasks. * Setup new hires in accounting system.
Preferred Qualifications: * Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration with an accounting focus. * 3+ years of business accounting/bookkeeping experience with a preference for experience with a professional services firm. * Recent and relevant working knowledge of QuickBooks software. * Proficient skills in Excel, Word, and Adobe PDF software. * Attention to detail and standard accounting procedures * A strong commitment to meet deadlines * Ability to work independently, take initiative, and set priorities * Pleasant interpersonal skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, with a service-orientated attitude with our staff and clients. * Strong analytical, organizational and multi-tasking capabilities * Ability to work independently, take initiative, and set priorities * Decisive and effective problem solver with a service-oriented attitude
Work Setting: * Depending on qualifications accountant may be located at either our Seattle, Poulsbo, or Portland office after an initial transition and training period at our current accounting office in Bellevue, WA. * Work Load. The average work load is on the order of 20-30 hours per week. Ability to negotiate a flexible work schedule provided the needs of the business are met.
