Locations: Portland, OR and Seattle, WA

DOF has opportunities in both our growing Portland and Seattle offices for an experienced Project Engineer. The position will assist senior staff with the following type of activities:

  • Lead fieldwork assignments including but not limited to oversight and documentation of sediment sampling, remedial technology pilot tests, remedial system operations, and other assignments.
  • Must be able to assertively direct others in the field such as subcontracted drillers, excavation contractors, utility locators, and others to consistently complete tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Familiarity with appropriate state regulatory programs including appropriate health and safety regulations at level required to perform typical field and office tasks.
  • Work plan preparation.
  • Coordination of field work permitting.
  • Coordinate and/or conduct investigations and related sampling procedures.
  • Document investigation and assessment activities.
  • Compile data for various regulatory and other reports.
  • Documentation, data analysis/data organization, costing, and technical report preparation.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • MS or BS in Coastal, Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience desired
  • EIT required, PE preferred
  • Strong work ethic
  • Excellent written and verbal communication capabilities
  • Strong organizational skills, time management skills, and detail oriented
  • Current 40-hour HAZWOPER (preferrable but not required)
  • Available for typical business day work hours between 7AM to 7PM Monday through Friday with a normal work week of 40-hours, with flexibility for earlier starting times and later ending times, as well as occasional overnight shifts or travel as necessitated by project-specific requirements.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications

The candidate will perform field work in a range of weather conditions and must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record to travel to project sites, as needed.

Project Hydrogeologist link

Location: Seattle, WA

DOF has an opportunity in Seattle for a Project Hydrogeologist. The position will assist senior staff with the following type of activities:

  • Lead fieldwork assignments including but not limited to oversight and documentation of environmental drilling, soil sampling, groundwater sampling, sediment sampling, stormwater sampling, aquifer testing, remedial technology pilot tests, small excavations, remedial system operations, and other assignments.
  • Develop and refine conceptual site models involving complex hydrogeology, geochemistry, and contaminant fate and transport.
  • Design environmental and hydrogeologic field investigations to evaluate groundwater quality, groundwater-surface water interaction, contaminant nature and extent, aquifer properties, and chemical fate and transport.
  • Manage and evaluate data for technical reports that include data visualization such as potentiometric surface maps, geologic and hydrogeologic cross-sections, and contaminant extent maps.
  • Coordinate and/or conduct investigations and related sampling procedures, including permitting.
  • Preparing technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, and proposals in support of projects under oversight from EPA and WA State regulatory agencies.

Qualified candidates will have:

  • MS or BS in Geology or Hydrogeology
  • 7-15 years of experience desired
  • Licensed Geologist in WA required, Licensed Hydrogeologist preferred
  • Strong work ethic, organizational skills, time management skills, and detail oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication capabilities
  • Familiarity with appropriate state regulatory programs including appropriate health and safety regulations at level required to perform typical field and office tasks

We are currently seeking an experienced CAD Designer to support our varied remediation and earthwork projects. The position will be based in our Bremerton office (or possibly Seattle or Portland OR). The candidate must be proficient in usage of latest version of AutoCAD and Civil 3D, and must have the ability to put together entire sets of construction documents. The candidate must be capable of coordinating with engineers and other consultants. The candidate shall be self-motivated and must have good communication and organizational skills.

This position will assist project managers and engineers with the design and layout of civil / site engineering design drawings. Typical projects include private and municipal site layout design, geometric layouts, profiles, cross sections, grading, drainage, utility, and erosion control designs.

Qualifications:

  • Current AutoCAD expertise required, with Civil 3D CAD strongly preferred. Training to familiarize the successful candidate with specific client needs will be provided.
  • Experience creating and setting up Civil 3D templates and styles preferred.
  • Experience with Civil 3D surfaces and grading preferred.
  • ARC GIS skills a plus.
  • Surveying experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and produce high quality and accurate drawings is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with team members including effective communication and interpersonal skills is required.
  • Experience working on projects from concept through final design and construction.
  • Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology and/or CAD Drafting is preferred.
  • Experience creating renderings and report exhibits using desktop graphic software desirable.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists design/engineering team in project support from initial concept, through final construction drawings and construction management.
  • Creates base drawings using survey information and CAD program(s).
  • Verifies accuracy of drawings.
  • Knowledge of plotting/printing function.
  • Maintain project libraries and CAD standards.
  • Prepares detail and quantity calculations.
  • Verifies daily survey and quantity calculations during project.
  • Prepares geometry calculations.
  • Performs general administrative assistance by maintaining project plans.
  • Development of project and presentation graphics.
