DOF’s innovations on this very complicated project included many unique state-of-the-art design components that set new standards for sediment remediation. Among these elements were joint inspector/dredge operator evaluation of dredged material during dredging operations and real-time sampling behind the dredge.
DOF provided the following services:
- Managed pre-design studies, assessments and pilot programs
- Prepared project design plans (design analysis report, plans and specifications and cost estimate)
- Prepared supporting plans (CQAP, Health and Safety Plan)
- Coordinated shoreline and in water remediation with federal, state and local agencies
- Prepared construction bid documents and negotiated contractor construction contract documents
- Prepared RFI responses, reviewed submittals and managed construction meetings
- Conducted field inspections and observations documented by daily field reports and photos
- Prepared progress reports for EPA
- Conducted real-time contaminated sediment sampling behind dredge
- Conducted real-time water quality monitoring and provided online results
- Prepared removal action completion report for EPA
